Generosity.
What comes to mind when you see/hear this word?
Look into Proverbs 22:9 (http://bit.ly/2OiTH93)

Did you know that generosity brings blessing?

As we share with others, we bring joy to others and in turn feel joyful with them. The ‘poor’ could be the person at the traffic light, or the person in your neighbourhood who knocks on doors looking for food and clothes, or a fellow student who maybe has less than you do. Perhaps your church supports a homeless charity, or a home for children or the elderly.

What can you share and who can you share with?

Character means, “the mental and moral qualities of a person” – basically your character is who you are/what you do when nobody’s looking.

How would you describe your character?
Are you the same in public and in private?
Study Proverbs 11:3 (http://bit.ly/2OiUIy9)

Jesus calls us to a life of integrity and honesty – these qualities are vital to building good character. This includes being honest with yourself. I have seen people shattered by others’ dishonesty, which included not facing up to the truth about themselves.

Your values and your beliefs affect your speech and behaviour. Watch yourself and others carefully. Your character and your reputation depend on it!

Did you know we can show our relationship with Jesus in our friendships?
DC Talk sang a great song ‘Lean on me’. The lyrics speak of leaning on each other for support in hard times.

Friends – who can you lean on?
Can others lean and rely on you?
Reflect on Proverbs 17:17 (http://bit.ly/2OjRgTL).

Some translations have “A friend loves at all times”, whereas another I’ve seen says “A true friend is always loyal”. Our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as our friends who don’t yet know Jesus, need love and loyalty.

Is there someone you know that needs YOU as a friend?

There are many people today who’s voices are being lost; people of colour, women, immigrants, the homeless and many more. God loves them as much as He loves you. He created them just like He created you.

As Christians, we have the difficult task to speak up for those who have no voice. There are many ways we can do this and it isn’t always going to be easy. But God goes with us, He will give us the strength we need.

Ask God to show you how you can use your voice to help someone who has lost theirs today.
