Many new things might have already happened this year and many new things will definitely happen. You will be in a different grade, a different class, a different teacher, you will probably meet new friends. You may even be going to a new school.

Romans 8:28 says, “…God works for the good…” Whatever new and different things happen, God will work everything for His good and our good. God is so powerful and so clever that He is able to turn everything that happens in our lives and on the earth for His good and our good.

South Africa, like the rest of the world,is broken. Our world is broken, like a shattered mirror. Like a broken bicycle that is trying to move, our country is trying to go forward, but is struggling. We fight each other. We lie to our parents. We pollute the planet.

The good news to focus on, is that, although we live in a broken world and we may have been broken, when we come into relationship with Jesus, we are made NEW in Him.

Spend time thinking about God, the one who makes all things NEW.

It is 2018. Many new things are going to happen this year. One new thing that will happen is that many people will be made new, from the inside.

In 1 Peter 1:3 we are told that, “He has given us new birth.” No person is born a new creation. No person is born a Christian. No person is born saved. We are born dead (spiritually speaking) and we need God to wake us up, to give us new birth. We need to be born again. This year many people will be made new. Have you been born again?

The story told in Salvation sang by Gabrielle Aplin is of the singer being made pure. It is unclear if she is singing this song because of a significant other or a god. But one thing is very clear, she is 100% confident in her salvation due to this person/god.

Christian salvation is about Jesus saving us from our sinful selves and giving us, eternal life spent with him. Ephesians 6:17 talks about wearing the helmet of salvation. This is an intentional choice which we make daily. Gabrielle Aplin is confident of her salvation, how will Salvation be your soundtrack for the day?
