Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy II were two big movies that featured impressive heroes. Individually they were all very powerful. Both movies showed us the possibility that exists in teams. None of the heroes, on their own, were strong enough to defeat the bad guys, but when they united they became unstoppable.

Read 1 Corinthians 12 ( to get the full picture, but verse 12 says: “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” God has given us the church as a gift that together we might achieve more.



Spiderman Homecoming was one of those fun movies. We are introduced to a younger Peter Parker in this version of Spiderman – who is a lot more fun and less serious than previous ones. There is an amazing relationship between Peter and Tony Stark who acts as a father figure and mentor.

Proverbs 16.20 ( tells us ‘Those who listen to instruction will prosper’.

It is usually when Peter ignores the wise voice and tries to do things his own way that trouble follows. Who is a wise leader in your life that you invite to help you make good choices?



A live action version of The Jungle Book came out and dazzled us all. The story of Mowgli, an orphan boy raised by wolves. As Mowgli tries to fit into different animal groups, it’s obvious that he is a human and will always lean towards human things.

This reminds me of one of my favourite verses in Romans 12 (, ‘we must not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds’. We are born again into a new family, a new way of living and should never quite fit in to the old way of life.

It led him to discover that the accounts of Jesus’ death and resurrection are historically reliable. It led him to becoming a Christian himself.

The Case for Christ, based on the New York Times best-selling book, is a movie which shows that the Christian faith is real. When you watch it, why not invite some of your friends who are curious about the Christian faith?
