True Love

“Baby, if you love me, then you’ll sleep with me” This popular line tries to manipulate people into doing things to prove their love. Is this true love? Seriously?

God selflessly turns that around and says “Because I love you, I will do something for you. I will sacrifice myself for you.”

“But it was our sins that did that to Him, that ripped and tore and crushed Him – our sins! He took the punishment, and that made us whole. Through His bruises we get healed” Isaiah 53:5 (

Now that’s real love! Thank Him for His love right now.

You are mine

We all long to find Our Person and live happily ever after. We want everyone to know that we belong togetherforever. And that may even lead to marriage and sharing the same name!

God sees us as His. We belong to him and to no one else. He’s given us a new name and a new start and He’s never, ever going to leave us alone.

“But now, this is what the LORD says – He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine” Isaiah 43:1 (

Paul, in another letter writes that Love is really important, it never fails. If you have Jesus in you, then your heart is His and His heart is yours. The Holy Spirit changes our hearts, maybe not right away but gradually over time as we surrender more and more to Him.

Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 ( and 13:11-13 (

Love is the greatest of all – its attitudes and characteristics are described well here.
Which ones do you find come naturally and which do you struggle with?
Talk these over with God, giving yourself over to Him to help you work on them.

You are completely free in Christ!
What does that mean for you?

Read Galatians 5:1-6 (, focussing on verses 1 and 4-6.

Paul is writing about how the people were being slaves to the law (rules and regulations) and that because of Jesus we can live in relationship with God and others.

If we belong to Jesus, then we are in Him and in heaven we will be made perfect, like Him.
For now, though, our relationships matter, as Paul writes “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love”

How can you show love to those around you?
