WONDER

The movie WONDER is definitely a wonder – excuse the pun 😉

This movie is filled with friendship, family and kindness. It’s also filled with the reality of being bullied for being different and misunderstood.

Are you the one that judges someone based on their appearance or them being different or them being misunderstood? OR are you the one being judged because of your appearance, being different or misunderstood?

Whichever, Jesus calls you to be kind, to be a friend, to be love to those around you. No matter how you are treated or how you want to treat others – choose the high road, the God road.

Kindness x10

Read John 13:34 (http://bit.ly/2LlN6vy) and 1 Corinthians 13:4b (http://bit.ly/2LnwtQf)

10 ways to show Jesus kindness and love:

1. Affirm someone
2. Send an encouraging message
3. Talk to the shy/new person
4. Explain the difficult maths concept to your classmate who doesn’t understand it yet #DontLusCalculus
5. Share your lunch with someone
6. Gently call out your friend when they are straying (yes that’s love too #biggerpicture)
7. Pray for your friends
8. Pray with your friends
9. Really listen to people (this one is hard for me)
10. Forgive and let go (more about that in the next #faithworks post)

What would you add to this list? How are you going to show kindness today?

Jesus loves us

Read Luke 7:36-50 (http://bit.ly/2LnCJqZ)

These verses tell the story of a woman with a past (a sinner), who pours a jar of perfume over Jesus’ feet, wetting his feet with her tears and wiping them with her hair. Everyone else judged her – for her past as well as for her actions that day.

Everyone except Jesus.

Jesus has not changed. He still sees people beyond their mistakes; He sees through the masks we put on for the world. Jesus sees our innermost beings, the real us, where we are made in the image of God. And Jesus loves us.

Am I worth it?

Think about this:

Since before God made the world, He knew everything you would do – He knew you would fail, deny Him before others, ignore Him and do your own thing – and He still created You.

He knew He would have to experience the punishment of sin and die the most painful, gruesome death to save you – and He decided it was worth the pain and sacrifice to create you.

Don’t ever think you’re not worth it. God considered all the options possible and decided a world with you, was better than one without you – despite the cost.

That’s how much He loves you.
