Where is the love?

In this world, all sorts of unjust things happen, rape, terrorism, murder etc. To an innocent onlooker it is easy to ask God where is the love? The song “Where is the love” sums up this hurting question to God. I find that this song often becomes the sound track for my day when I hear about these evils.

Psalm 121 comforts me. The Psalmist starts by asking a very similar question to the Black Eyed Peas of “where is the help?” And then the Psalm continues to answer this question – read the whole Psalm – will this answer become your sound track?

Read Psalm 121:

God And Gomer

Have you ever been cheated on? It really hurts deep down right? You feel betrayed, angry, sad…

In the Old Testament God tells Hosea to marry a woman who was known for sleeping around (Hosea 1v2). God knew Gomer would cheat on Hosea sooner or later and that it would hurt – but God wanted to show the Israelites that their sin was wrecking their relationship with God too.

When we choose to love other things in our lives more than God it’s kinda like we’re cheating on God too. What does it tell you about how much God loves you that he always stays faithful to you, no matter how unfaithful you’ve been?

Wisewords From Yoda – Part 5

Wisewords from Yoda – Part 5: ‘Always pass on what you have learned.’

God’s Grace! It’s pretty amazing really. You get to be adopted into the great big family of God. But here’s the thing – that grace is invisible – just like God. How will people know that God is good? How will they see what grace is about – unless you show them?

‘But thanks be to God, who … uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.’ 2 Corinthians 1v14.

We were never supposed to keep God’s grace to ourselves. Go ahead. Spread the love

Wisewords From Yoda – Part 3

Wisewords from Yoda – part 3: ‘Try not. Do or do not. There is no try.’

The first time I flew in a plane, I jumped out of it (and there was nothing wrong with the plane). Hours before this, the jump instructor told me a gazillion ways I would die unless I deployed the parachute properly. Hectic! I could stay on the ground in safety but then I would never experience the sheer thrill and rush of free flight.

So it is with God. So it is with his grace. You have to jump into it to know and experience it.

Is there something holding you back that you need to let go of?

‘And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love may grasp how high and deep is the love of Christ.’ Ephesians 3v17-18.
