Turn your eyes upon Jesus

A classic hymn but contemporary with a beat: OLDIES ARE GOLDIES GUYS!

Life has still moments; moments of rest, change, craziness but within all of it, we can look to Him, to Jesus, for help, strength, comfort, grace, mercy, forgiveness, love, care, joy, and peace.

When we look at Jesus, as the song says, the things of the earth grow strangely dim – it fades, it becomes less intense and overwhelming. The light of Jesus shines so much brighter than anything we face!

And as we look into His wonderful face, He makes His face shine on us!

Read Numbers 6:24-26 here:

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness” Colossians 2:6-7.

Do you have a relationship with Jesus, a daily walk and talk with Jesus like you do with some of your best friends? Being completely open and honest with Jesus about all your thoughts and dreams?

It’s so important that we learn to go deeper with Him. That we learn to figure ourselves out in Him. We will be so liberated by how gentle He is about all our experiences.

Learning from Mary

Matthew 2:11 says, ‘They entered the house and saw the child with His mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him.’

Mary didn’t invite these guys over. She didn’t try very hard at all. She just tended to her baby. And poor shepherds and rich kings came to her, because they were drawn to the presence of Jesus.

Don’t force and stress to get people to come to your youth group or prayer meeting. Just focus on tending to your relationship with Jesus. Just be Jesus to those around you. They’ll be drawn to His presence in you.

The what, how and why

Sometimes we read a story in the Bible and think huh?!
Try this one.

Read Exodus 17:8-13 –

It’s pretty clear what happened. Joshua and his troops crushed the army of Amalek. The ‘how‘ is obvious. As long as Moses held up the staff with his hands, the Israelites had the advantage. But do you know why?

I bet you know that answer too. So where is the ‘huh’? Well, that’s the thing. This story is straight forward, like its lesson.

Do your part but rely on God. Use the weapon of prayer daily and give God the glory for your victories.

Sometimes following Jesus is that simple.
