Wisewords From Yoda – Part 1

Wisewords from Yoda – part 1: ‘Mind what you have learned. Save you it can.’ (Yoda accent optional)

So you’ve been rescued by Jesus. Yay! Sins forgiven. Yay! Now what? Fact is – our enemy (the forces of evil) is still around and wants to damage you.

Philippians 4v9 says, ‘What you have learned and received and heard and seen in mepractise these things, and the God of peace will be with you’.

So, what HAVE you learnt, received, heard and seen? It’s God alone who has rescued and continues to rescue you. How can you live out that truth in your day today?

Mind what you have learned. Save you it can

Philippians 4 here:

Spitirual Zombies

It was a sermon for zombies. He took a deep breath, looked up at us, and said, ‘Sin doesn’t make us bad. It’s worse than that. Sin makes us dead.’

Woah, ok then … that’s some awkward truth about ourselves.

The Bible says God has raised us to life in Jesus by grace, but do you sometimes walk around like a spiritual zombie instead the new creation you are? You know – believing one thing but not exactly living it out?

Don’t stumble around like you’re undead. Ask God to give you more of his grace – the power to live as if you really were alive again.

Ephesians 2:1-3 here:

King, Redeemer, Friend

This side of eternity we’ll never understand exactly what happens when God saves us. His Spirit moves mightily in our hearts – allows us to say yes to him as King, Redeemer and Friend.

God reaches down in grace that lets us really see ourselves – and really see him – and really see the truth. Yep – even if the truth hurts

‘God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.’ Ephesians 2:8-9 (check it here –

Wow. Reason enough to praise God today?

The Ultimate ‘Bad Boy’

He was the ultimate Bad Boy – violent, foul-mouthed, hates God, despises people, into human trafficking, rapes those he sells. Then in the middle of a deadly situation, he cries out to God who saves him.

Why would you do that, God? Bad Boy deserved to die didn’t he?

Check out Ephesians 1v2-10 (here: Through his grace, God saves us. Undeserving, we find God’s love, forgiveness, power and presence if we seek it. God freely heaps his grace on us through Christ and changes our lives forever. Thank you God for being so generous, joyful and wonderful. We love you!

P.S. Bad Boy was John Newton who wrote the hymn Amazing Grace. God – your grace really is amazing!
