#Sharp

My favourite knife is my Leatherman. Why? It’s REALLY sharp. (I’ve even cut cable with it). Second is my chef’s knife. Why? It’s balanced and REALLY sharp – except when it’s blunt. (Then it’s just a pain to use and REALLY dangerous too).

Proverbs 27:17 (http://bit.ly/2GrREj6) says “As iron sharpens iron, so one person (a friend) sharpens another”. This doesn’t mean rubbing each other up the wrong way. It means giving each other the right to be in each other’s business in an up-close and personal way with the intent to make each other better – sharp, balanced and becoming more like Jesus.

In the first Ant-man movie, Scott Lang finds this shrinking suit and learns how to use it, getting into trouble along the way. In the second movie, he has a side-kick: Wasp. Two are better than one: they make a great team. We often see pairings in superhero movies: Batman and Robin, Clark Kent and Louis Lane, Captain America and The Falcon. A hero never saves the day on his own. Their friends and sidekicks make them stronger and keep them on the right path.

Doesn’t this remind you of Proverbs 27:17 (http://bit.ly/2GrREj6)?
The right friends are important to your story.

Did you know we can show our relationship with Jesus in our friendships?
DC Talk sang a great song ‘Lean on me’. The lyrics speak of leaning on each other for support in hard times.

Friends – who can you lean on?
Can others lean and rely on you?
Reflect on Proverbs 17:17 (http://bit.ly/2OjRgTL).

Some translations have “A friend loves at all times”, whereas another I’ve seen says “A true friend is always loyal”. Our brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as our friends who don’t yet know Jesus, need love and loyalty.

Is there someone you know that needs YOU as a friend?

@CIA

Have a Twitter account? Who do you follow most closely? How many people follow you?

Believe it or not, the Central Intelligence Agency joined Twitter yesterday. Yip, you heard me, the US of A’s main spies just joined Twitter (http://bit.ly/1uAOae5) with the following tag: “We can neither confirm nor deny that this is our first tweet. In response Husain Haqqani tweeted, The CIA has followed people for years, now tweeple (sic) have a chance to follow @CIA.

Who are you following and who is following you (and not just on Twitter)? Paul wrote, Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:1 N.I.V.)
