Challenge of the week

Jesus showed us immense love that’s unearned and yet unconditional. Love that set us free from the guilt and condemnation of our own wrongdoings.

Could we earn that? No.
Did we deserve that? No.
Literally all we have to do for that forgiveness is *receive* it.

People hurt us. We all hurt Jesus every day and yet He forgives us when we repent. So why don’t we forgive? Forgive so you can be forgiven.

Read Matthew 6:14 here: http://bit.ly/2J9LNgw

Jesus chooses to forget too. I know that’s been hard for me, but it’s part of forgiveness. Challenge yourself to forgive ______ #fillintheblank.
Starting step: pray for them & think of 10 good things about them.

Kindness x10

Read John 13:34 (http://bit.ly/2LlN6vy) and 1 Corinthians 13:4b (http://bit.ly/2LnwtQf)

10 ways to show Jesus kindness and love:

1. Affirm someone
2. Send an encouraging message
3. Talk to the shy/new person
4. Explain the difficult maths concept to your classmate who doesn’t understand it yet #DontLusCalculus
5. Share your lunch with someone
6. Gently call out your friend when they are straying (yes that’s love too #biggerpicture)
7. Pray for your friends
8. Pray with your friends
9. Really listen to people (this one is hard for me)
10. Forgive and let go (more about that in the next #faithworks post)

What would you add to this list? How are you going to show kindness today?

Prayer

Paul is a great example of how to pray for others as well as ourselves. He recognised how God’s power is at work in people of faith, who have the Holy spirit living inside them. He declared how God is able to do above and beyond all we ask or think!

Examine Ephesians 3:14-21 (http://bit.ly/2c8zXUg)

Wouldn’t you like your faith to develop and fill your heart, mind and life with such deepness of God’s love and strength for living?
What aspects of this prayer can you take for yourself? How about imitating Paul and ‘kneel before the Father’ praying these things?

It’s all Grace

Check out Ephesians 2:4-10 (http://bit.ly/2RFw8fc)
What does Paul repeat?

‘By grace you have been saved’ – this is God’s gift to us! He has made us alive in Jesus Christ, through faith. God has also made us his ‘workmanship’- we are part of His team! He has prepared ‘good works for us to do’ and because of His grace we are able to do what He calls us to do.

Has God called you to do something specific for Him?
How can you make the most of God’s grace to do what He has called you to do?
Talk to God about your ideas and thoughts and then Go for it!
