Maybe getting to know our great beeeg God is a bit overwhelming. Where do we even start? How do we get to know God when we don’t see Him physically? Over the next few Mondays, let’s look at some practical ways on getting to Jesus J

#1 – SET TIME ASIDE

The Bible is God on paper. Get to know the Bible. Be intentional about reading your Bible. When the notification for WS posts come through, open it up, read it, read the portion of scripture being used – maybe read the whole chapter where the verse comes from, even if it’s not part of the post.

Read Psalm 119:9-16 (http://bit.ly/2GyAZKM)

God is abundantly good.
(See Psalm 145:7)

God is gracious and compassionate.
(See Psalm 145:8)

God is slow to anger.
(See Psalm 145:8)

God is rich in love.
(See Psalm 145:8)

God is trustworthy in all He promises.
(See Psalm 145:13)

God is faithful in all He does.
(See Psalm 145:13)

God is righteousin all His ways.
(See Psalm 145:17)

All of this was found in one Psalm in the Bible! Imagine how much you would get to know God by reading more of this book or other books in the Bible. Now don’t just imagine it – do it! If you want to know God more, read His Word.

Mark 1:35 (http://bit.ly/2NwsEXc) says, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where He prayed.”

Jesus set special time aside to pray to His Father.

It’s not just about fitting God into our day but it’s often more about taking the time to spend with Him, in that way we get to know Him more and more. It’s not always easy and I trip up too but it’s important. In fact, it’s vital!

If Jesus did it then so should we.

This year, I began reading commentaries along with Scripture. I will look up a verse, Google it, and there’s a million commentaries – try to look at more than one. However, just because it’s on the internet or in a book doesn’t mean it’s automatically correct so be careful and search wisely. #discernment

If questions arise or something doesn’t seem right – pray about it, or talk to your pastor, parent or someone you know will be of help.
This can really help in understanding the Word and getting to know God.
Look out to see what God is saying and revealing to you through the scriptures.

Read Psalm 119 verse 125 (http://bit.ly/2BZUJoi) and verse 130 (http://bit.ly/2NDzaLy).
