Look into Psalm 145:8-9 (

Do you find it tough to be gracious and compassionate? Are you easily frustrated with friends and family? Do your teachers sometimes get to you, to a point where you are unable to act out the “slow to anger” characteristic? Do you find that it’s really hard to love people, just because?

Verse 8 says, “The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.” Verse 9 says “He is good to all” – What a brilliant explanation of a major aspect of God’s character! Isn’t it good to know God is compassionate, gracious, is patient with us and loves no matter what!

“Jesus wept” is the shortest verse in the Bible found in John 11:35. It shows the compassionate nature and loving sympathy of Jesus.

His brother James wrote in James 5:10-11, “an example of patience in suffering blessed are those who persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and what God finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy”.

God is love, and Jesus showed this throughout His life and ultimately through His death.
Praise and thank God for His aspects of His character today!

God of all comfort

God, sometimes it is hard to know how to support the people around me. Like when difficult stuff happens to my friends or family, what do I say? I know that you are the God of all comfort, but what am I supposed to do? Or, if someone is really happy and I’m not feeling the same way, then what do I do?

The Bible says that I should rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep (Romans 12v15). Help me to trust you enough that you can handle my feelings, so I can be sympathetic with others, no matter what space they’re in – happy or sad.
