Giving into temptation doesn’t usually start with an action, it starts with a casual thought or a quick glance at an image or something right? Often the temptation grabs hold of us because we take a second look or decide to let that thought settle in and take over.

Proverbs 4:25 says, ‘Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.’

If you know you are in danger of giving into temptation that will draw you away from God, practise keeping yourself away from places where that temptation is in plain sight. Let your eyes or thoughts rest on other things.

A-pos-WHAT!?

What crime do you think would justify a death sentence? Murder? Rape? Child abuse? Apostasy?

A-pos-WHAT?!

Mariam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag, 27, was condemned to death by hanging on May 15 this year for apostasy: for becoming a follower of Jesus! Given the choice to abandon Jesus or face a death sentence, she refused to deny her faith.

Yesterday, prayers for her protection were answered and the Sudanese government announced they would release her (http://bbc.in/1nDNwwt).

What do you need to say NO or YES to as an act of loving Jesus?

Here’s a shoutout to all the matrics who started writing finals this week (finally!) And here’s something to encourage you (and everyone in other grades too) as you get tested over the next few weeks.

Being tested isn’t usually very fun. In the Bible, the word they used was the same as being ‘tempted.’ What was the point of testing then? To PROVE and IMprove – always.

Whether you’re going for straight A+’s or just hoping to pass, God is able to use any time of testing to shape you more into the person he made you to be. Whatever happens – study hard, write fearlessly! God has you in his hands.
