Fear of not fitting in…

Being a teenager is often super awkies – most of the time is spent figuring out who you are and who you want to be. Our peers don’t make this season of life any easier. The fear of rejection is real. The pressure to be someone you’re not comes with that fear.

Fear stops us from being the person God sees when He looks at us. Fear stops us from loving ourselves. Fear stops us from knowing that we are accepted – Romans 15:7 (http://bit.ly/2IKoDwU) tells us that we have been accepted by Jesus.

Will you lay your fear at the feet of Jesus today?

Wisewords From Yoda – Part 2

Wisewords from Yoda – part 2: ‘In this war, a danger there is, of losing who we are.’ (Yoda accent essential).

I remember a school sports war cry that went: ‘Who are, who are, who are we? We are (blah-blah) can’t you see. We are here to win today’

Do you find there’s this constant pressure to strive and achieve, to be the best – in sport, academics, socially – to fit in with ‘the rest’? That can be tough right? Especially when ‘the rest’ aren’t fitting in with Jesus.

Don’t lose who you are or whose you are.

‘How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!’ 1 John 3v1.

What do you sound like / smell like / look like in the morning? Do you like what you hear, smell or see? Often I don’t. Despite the level of vulnerability required, thousands of woman around the world have come out in support of the #nomakeupselfie campaign and posted a selfie (without make-up) on social media, challenging their friends to do it too. http://bit.ly/1gaLdHl.

Jesus knows us as we really are and invites us to bare all to him, and experience his unreserved love and acceptance! Is there any ‘spiritual make-up’ you need to take off to give yourself(ie) to him again? Read Hebrews 4:16 here http://bit.ly/1h6wSMc.

God Sees Your Heart

I remember watching a sci-fi movie where alien beings could read each other’s thoughts and communicate without speaking. I was terrified! What if people could see the ungodly things that sometimes go through my mind: the anger, the pride, the lust, the greed?

The woman at the well in John 4 must have been astounded when a complete stranger described her history of failed intimate relationships. Awkward moment of note.

Your secrets aren’t secret to God. He loves you, the whole you, the broken you. His body was broken so you could be made whole. Jesus invites us out of the things that tie us up, and into the joy of living free and openly with Him. Will you accept the invitation?
